Zero Tolerance on Illegal Encroachments: Azharuddin Issues Warning
Hyderabad Dec. 19 (Maxim News): Telangana Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin on Friday issued a stern warning against illegal encroachments on Masjid e Alamgir land at Kavuri Hills in Guttala Begumpet.
He said the government would take strict legal action against anyone involved in unlawful occupation of waqf or religious properties.
The Minister took serious cognisance of complaints submitted by the Alamgir Masjid Committee.
The complaints alleged attempts by unknown persons to illegally occupy land belonging to Masjid e Alamgir. Following this, Mohammed Azharuddin personally visited the site and reviewed the situation on the ground.
Azharuddin conducted a joint inspection along with senior officials from the Revenue Department, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Hyderabad Police, HYDRA, and the Telangana Waqf Board.
During the inspection, officials briefed the Minister on the status of the land and recent encroachment attempts.
The Minister stated that illegal encroachments on Masjid e Alamgir land would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Azharuddin directed officials to initiate immediate and stringent legal action against those responsible. He also instructed departments to ensure that the sanctity of mosque land is fully protected.
Strict Action Ordered Against Illegal Encroachments on Masjid e Alamgir Land
Mohammed Azharuddin warned that any officer or individual found negligent or complicit would be held personally accountable.
He said criminal cases would be registered as per law wherever violations were established. He assured the Masjid Committee that the government stands firmly with them.
The Minister noted that the mosque land spreads across nearly 90 acres. He emphasised that such properties must be safeguarded as per legal provisions governing waqf assets. Therefore, he directed officials to maintain continuous monitoring of the site to prevent further encroachments.
He also instructed departments to work in close coordination to protect minority religious properties across Telangana.
According to the Minister, coordinated action is essential to prevent unlawful occupation and future disputes.
The inspection and review meeting were attended by Secretary to Government and Commissioner for Minority Welfare Shafi Ullah, AIMIM Karwan MLA Kausar Mohiuddin, Telangana Government Advisor Mohammed Shabbir Ali, TMRIES Chairman Faheem Quraishi, Waqf Board Chairman Syed Azmatullah Hussaini, Additional DCP Madhapur Dayanand Reddy, and the Chief Executive Officer Mohd Asadullah of the Telangana Waqf Board. Several senior officials from concerned departments were also present.
Officials assured the Minister that immediate protective measures would be implemented.
They also confirmed that necessary legal proceedings would be initiated without delay to prevent illegal encroachments on Masjid e Alamgir land. (Maxim News)
