10% Discount On Travel Fares In Hyderabad Metro During Peak Hours

Hyderabad: In a surprising move that has left its passengers dismayed, the Hyderabad Metro Rail has announced the cessation of the 10% discount on travel during peak hours, a benefit that commuters had come to appreciate. This decision comes at a time when the city’s residents, seeking respite from the increasing heat, have been increasingly relying on the metro for its convenience and comfort.

Until now, the metro had offered a discount through its Rs. 59-holiday card, which applied to journeys undertaken between 6 to 8 in the morning and 8 in the evening to midnight, catering to the needs of regular commuters. The withdrawal of this offer has not gone down well with the public, who have voiced their dissatisfaction loudly.

The surge in temperatures across the state has made public and personal transport less appealing, with many opting for the metro as a cooler alternative. This shift has led to higher passenger volumes on metro trains, a situation that some believe the metro authorities are attempting to leverage financially by discontinuing the holiday card.
