12 Crest Gates Of Nagarjuna Sagar Lifted To Release Water
Nalgonda/Hyderabad, Aug 5 (Maxim News): The Nagarjunasagar project has achieved full capacity due to heavy flood coming from above, as a result, the authorities raised the 12 gates of the Nagarjuna Sagar reservoir by five feet.
Today morning, the authorities lifted six gates, and then they lifted some more gates. SE Nageswara Rao and CE Anil Kumar gave Jalharathi to Krishnamma and released the water downstream. First, the siren sounded three times to alert the people of the lower areas. Later, a total of 12 gates were lifted one by one and the water was released downstream.
Officials said that about 2 lakh cusecs of water will be released downstream through Nagarjuna Sagar Crust gates. The full water level of Nagarjuna Sagar is 590 feet and is currently 583.60 feet. While the full water capacity is 312.5 TMC, the current water storage is 293.33 TMC. Nagarjuna Sagar inflow is 2,74,000 cusecs, while outflow is 1,13,889 cusecs. (Maxim News)
