16 Types Of Fruits On 50 Acres Per Mandal Under Govt Subsidy On Fruit Orchards

Hyderabad, Aug 26 (Maxim News): Keeping in view that there are shortage of fruits in Telangana, the state government is making preparations to promote the cultivation of orchards. Efforts are being made to increase the area under different types of orchards by integrating the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

Farmers who are interested in fruit cultivation are being supported with subsidies, in this background, Horticulture Department officials are planning to connect NREGS and promote the cultivation of orchards in 50 acres for each mandal.

As part of the cultivation of alternative crops, it is planned to promote orchards by giving subsidies to small farmers who have less than five acres of cultivated land in the state. Farmers will be selected with the coordination of the Agriculture, Horticulture, and NREGS departments. A special activity is being prepared for this.

Prices of Fruits Touching Sky

There is a situation of importing fruits other than mangoes from other states to meet the increasing demand for fruits in the state. Due to this, the prices of fruits are touching the sky. Also, the market demand for fruits is increasing tremendously.  In this background, the government has taken measures to increase the cultivation of orchards.

The government has set a target to provide subsidies for orchards in an area of 50 acres per mandal across the state. It has decided to provide incentives to farmers who grow demand plantations. The subsidy will be provided for the cultivation of 16 types of orchards such as mango, lime, sweet potato, guava, custard apple, cashew nut, sapota, apple bear, pomegranate, dragon fruit crops, coconut groves on the farm ridges, neredu, karonda, china trees, munaga.

Employment Job Cards To Farmers

An employment job card is provided to farmers who have less than five acres of cultivated land. Officials aim to cultivate 50 acres of orchards in each mandal by the financial year 2024-25.  Applications are being accepted from eligible farmers for this.  The plants are offered at a hundred percent discount.  Under the scheme selected farmers will be paid maintenance costs for orchard cultivation for up to three years.  Orchards are selected according to the instructions of the horticulture officials based on the soil quality of the selected farmers.

Farmers are paid for digging pits for planting, fencing around the garden, and buying fertilizers.  Help is provided till the first harvest of the crop.  Also, concession will be provided on drip irrigation.  Drip devices will be distributed to SC and ST farmers on a 100 percent subsidy and to the rest on a 90 percent subsidy as per micro irrigation rules.  The interested farmers will be given advice and suggestions on the cultivation of orchards from time to time.  Horticulture officials suggested that farmers should take advantage of this opportunity.
