164 More Private Hospitals to Join Aarogyasri

Hyderabad, March 30 (Maxim News): The Telangana government has approved the inclusion of 164 more private hospitals under the Rajiv Aarogyasri scheme, expanding access to cashless healthcare services.

Currently, there are 1,042 hospitals in the Aarogyasri network across the state, including 409 private hospitals. With this expansion, the number of private hospitals in the scheme is set to increase significantly.

Medical and Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha has directed officials to bring 1,000 private hospitals into the Aarogyasri network. Additionally, over 3,000 hospitals in the state are now eligible to receive financial support through the CM Relief Fund (CMRF). The minister has urged authorities to ensure that at least 1,000 hospitals offer cashless treatment under the scheme.

Key Reforms Under the Congress Government

Since the Congress government took charge, several enhancements have been made to Aarogyasri:

  • The treatment cost limit under the scheme was increased to ₹10 lakh.
  • 163 new diseases were added, bringing the total coverage to 1,835 diseases.
  • Prices paid to hospitals for 1,375 medical procedures were increased by 20%.
  • In the financial year 2024-25, 3,53,474 people received treatment under Aarogyasri.

Under the previous BRS government, hospitals were paid an average of ₹684 crore annually (₹57 crore per month). However, under the Congress government, the funding has increased to ₹966.54 crore annually, with hospitals now receiving ₹87 crore per month. (Maxim News)
