A marble plaque in Urdu still survives on the tower. Its translated warning reads: “Anyone who tries to pick up pigeons, chicks, or eggs from Hashmatgunj will be acted upon by police,” signed by Rahmat Yar Jung, then Kotwal (Police Commissioner).

Experts say the tower reflects Hyderabad’s tradition of protecting birds and promoting harmony with nature.

Heritage activists have urged the government to preserve it as a historical site.

The area around Koti still attracts visitors interested in the city’s past.
