The airport closure followed the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel. As a result, Indians who travelled for tourism, business, higher education and medical purposes could not return. Therefore, families of Hyderabadis are in deep panic. However, Dubai Airport was restored on Monday night. Later, flights to India from Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai took off.

Meanwhile, Emirates Airlines cancelled the flight despite issuing boarding passes for Hyderabad passengers. A passenger told ‘Andhra Jyothi’ that the passengers are being taken back to the hotel. This has added to the uncertainty among travellers from the city.

Dubai tourism offers a unique experience, and many tourists from Hyderabad prefer to travel there. It is known that 5,23,107 people travelled from Shamshabad Airport last year. Of these, 50 to 60 percent were tourists. Meanwhile, five to six direct flights depart from Shamshabad Airport every day. In addition, up to 15 connecting flights operate daily. On average, 1,400 to 1,500 people travel to Dubai each day.

However, city residents who already booked tickets for March are worried. They are visiting travel agencies and asking for refunds, citing fear of war. Therefore, organisers are rescheduling trips for some travellers as requested. Others are receiving refunds. Meanwhile, agencies that cannot pay immediately are offering alternative packages. They are allowing customers to visit other countries and different states in India.
