Police said the accused misused the dais and played a skit (hate speech) with the help of BJP cultural team viz Boddu Yellanna alias Daruvu Yellanna by insulting Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. While A-1 State BJP president Bandi Sanjay was issued notice under Section 41-(A) (1) Cr.PC on June 12 by Hayathnagar police, A-2 Jitta Balakrishna Reddy was arrested on June 10 and produced before the court concerned for judicial custody. On June 14, A-3 Rani Rudrama and A-4 Dharuvu Yellanna alias Boddu Yellanna was arrested and taken into custody.
According to police, on June 2, the State BJP, under the leadership of its president Bandi Sanjay Kumar and organisers viz., Jitta Balakrishna Reddy, Rani Rudrama organised an event on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day and misused the dais and played a skit (hate speech) with the help of BJP cultural team viz., Boddu Yellanna alias Daruvu Yellanna insulting Chief Minister, who is holding a constitutional post and the same was telecasted by a Telugu TV news channel.
On viewing the skit, complainant Y. Sathish Reddy, TRS social media convenor, lodged a complaint along with the video footage with the Hayathnagar Police stating that the State BJP leadership and the organisers Jitta Balakrishna Reddy, Rani Rudrama and others have misused the platform to defame the government schemes with false accusations against the Chief Minister and the government with an intention to mislead the people and provoke hatred and unrest.
Based on the written complaint, a case was registered in Hayathnagar PS against Bandi Sanjay Kumar, organisers Jitta Balakrishna Reddy, Rani Rudrama, Boddu Yellanna alias Daruvu Yellanna and his team under various penal sections for insulting persons and to cause distress and to offend the individuals on the basis of their association with a particular group.
After examination of the video content, it was established that the State BJP president and the organisers Jitta Balakrishna Reddy, Rani Rudrama, Boddu Yellanna alias Daruvu Yellanna and his team crossed all limits to attack personally the democratically elected person, who is holding a constitutional post of the Chief Minister of Telangana. The organisers had portrayed the Chief Minister of Telangana by playing a character of the Chief Minister of Telangana in a skit by wearing CM K. Chandra Shekar Rao pictured mask and by portraying him as a boozer and deceiving the public by ways of implementing different welfare schemes.
On the examination of the video, it is evident that the organisers have misused the dais and the event which was organised to celebrate the Telangana Formation Day, to make derogatory comments, personal attacks, depicting the Chief Minister of a State as boozer, cheater and so on to lower the image of a person elected by democratic means and holding a constitutional post, thereby they have indulged in personal attack and hate speech by way of playing a skit and caused distress by offending individuals on the basis of their association to incite hostility towards them. The skit was videographed and telecast by a Telugu TV news channel and generated comments to their story and caused distress among certain groups by disseminating/telecasting the hate speech to provoke hatred among the groups on the basis of their association which may cause threat to the democratic order.
