32 Palestinians Killed as Israeli Troops Open Fire Near US
Hyderabad/Balah, Gaza Strip, July 19, 2025 (Maxim News): At least 32 Palestinians were killed and dozens injured on Saturday after Israeli troops reportedly opened fire on large crowds of hungry civilians near food distribution centers operated by the U.S.- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), according to Gaza health officials and eyewitnesses.
The tragic incidents unfolded near Teina and Shakoush, two areas in southern Gaza where GHF has been distributing food aid amid an escalating humanitarian crisis. Eyewitnesses claim that Israeli soldiers fired indiscriminately as thousands of desperate Palestinians, many of them young men, tried to reach aid hubs for food.
“It Was a Massacre,” Says Survivor
“It was a massacre. The occupation opened fire at us indiscriminately,” said Mahmoud Mokeimar, a survivor who was walking toward the Teina food hub. He described seeing motionless bodies and wounded civilians scrambling for safety.
Another witness, Akram Aker, said Israeli forces used machine guns mounted on tanks and drones, surrounding the area and shooting directly at people between 5 and 6 AM. Sanaa al-Jaberi, a 55-year-old woman, recounted seeing many dead and wounded.
“We shouted ‘food, food’… but they didn’t talk to us. They just opened fire,” she said.
Among the deceased was 19-year-old Hisham, whose father Monzer Fesifes said:
“He went to bring food from the failed U.S., Zionist system to feed us.” He appealed to the Jordanian government for help evacuating his family.
Hospitals Overwhelmed Amid Mounting Crisis
At Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, officials confirmed receiving 25 bodies and 70 injured individuals, many with bullet wounds to the head and chest.
“The situation is difficult and tragic,” said Dr. Mohamed Saker, head of the hospital’s nursing department, noting severe shortages in critical medical supplies.
Seven additional fatalities were reported in Rafah’s Shakoush area, bringing the total death toll to 32, as confirmed by the Gaza Health Ministry.
Disputed Accountability Amid Growing Chaos
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, formed in May with U.S. and Israeli support, was created to provide aid amid concerns that Hamas was diverting UN-distributed resources—a claim the United Nations firmly denies.
While the Israeli army claims it fires only warning shots if crowds approach too closely, local health authorities allege hundreds have been killed while trying to access GHF aid sites in recent weeks. GHF, which hires private security, has blamed Hamas agitators for recent deadly stampedes but offered no concrete evidence.
Neither the IDF nor GHF has publicly commented on Saturday’s violence at the time of this report.
Gaza’s Humanitarian Situation Near Breaking Point
Over 2 million Palestinians in Gaza are on the brink of famine, according to food security experts. Aid distribution remains chaotic and dangerous—with crowds often rushing unsecured boxes of supplies placed on the ground, fueling panic and deadly stampedes.
Videos released by GHF show unregulated scenes of desperation, as people scramble for basic food amid gunfire and fear.
As the humanitarian catastrophe deepens, calls for accountability and international intervention continue to grow louder.
