33.81 Lakh Challans Cleared Till Now, Rs. 29.45 Cr Collected In 5 Days

Hyderabad, Dec 31 (Maxim News): Discount on pending challans scheme brought by the Telangana government to free motorists from pending challans in the state is getting huge response from the motorists. Within the first 5 days, 33.81 lakh challans (pending challans) were cleared and Rs. 29.45 crores were credited to the government treasury.

The police officials are estimating that this offer will be doubled in another 11 days. So far, 11.17 lakh challans have been cleared under the jurisdiction of Hyderabad Commissionerate and an income of Rs. 7.7 crores has been received.

3.5 lakh challans were cleared under the jurisdiction of Rachakonda Commissionerate and an income of Rs. 2.86 crores was collected.

6.23 lakh challans were cleared and Rs. 6.31 crores were collected under the jurisdiction of Cyberabad Commissionerate.

Authorities say that 2.4 crore challans are pending in Telangana as of March 31, 2022.  The state government announced a special subsidy last year with the intention of reducing these.  It announced 75 percent discount for two wheelers and 50 percent for others.  It is reported that 65 percent of motorists have used this opportunity.  The latest information is that the number of challans reached two crores again at the end of last month. In this context, once again a discount will be announced.  (Maxim News)
