Hyderabad, Nov 21 (Maxim News): The Sikhs in Telangana will observe the 350th Martyrdom of Ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahebji on a large scale between November 23 and 30.

Guru Tegh Bahadurji is revered for his sacrifice in defense of human dignity and religious freedom. His life and courage will be honored through Nagar Kirtans, Vishal Kirtan Darbars on his teachings and martyrdom.

The Sikh Guru made supreme sacrifices for the nation at the altar of Dharma. Large-scale events will be organised under aegis of Prabandhak Committee, Gurudwara Saheb Sitafalmandi, Secunderabad in cooperation with all the Sikh Gurudwaras of Telangana, which features Nagar Kirtan (religious processions), Kirtan Darbar and Vishal Diwan (mass congregations). These events will pay tribute to the Ninth Sikh Guru’s sacrifice for religious freedom and human rights.

The GSS will also organise the 350th Gurta Gaddi of Sri Guru Gobind Singhji (installation of Guru Gobind Singh as the tenth Guru of Sikhs).

Bhai Anantvir Singhji (USA wale), Bhai Gurdev Singhji (Australia wale), Bhai Amarjeet Singh Taan,  Gyani Sher Singhji (Ambala) and other Ragi Jathas will render shabad kirtans and kathas in mass congregations.

To mark the important occasions, Prabandhak Committee of Gurudwara Saheb Sitafalmandi, Chairmen , Harpal Singh and Kanchan Singh,  President, Pratap Singh, Vice President, Rajender Singh, General Secretary, Ranjeet Singh and Joint Secretary and Coordinator Jagjeet Singh informed media that in connection with 350th Gurta Gaddi of Sri Guru Gobind Singhji, a Kirtan Darbar (Mass Congregation) will be organised on November 23, 2025 from 11 am to 2.30 pm at Municipal Grounds Chilkalguda, Sitafalmandi where hundreds of Sikh devotees and other community faiths will converge at the event.

The event will be marked by the recitation of Holy Gurbani kirtans (holy hymns) by the reputed Ragi Jathas (religious preachers) who are being specially invited from various parts of the country to render shabad kirtans on the teachings of the Sikh Gurus and Guru Granth sahib ji. Bhai Amarjeet Singhji Taan, Bhai Gurmeet Singhji and other Ragi Jathas will render shabad kirtans and kathas. After the culmination of the Congregation Guru Ka Langar (free community kitchee served to all the devotees.

A colourful “Nagar Kirtan” (Holy Procession) will be taken out from the Gurdwara Sahib Secunderabad on November 25 at around 4.30 pm in which Sri Nishan Sahebans (exalted ensign, the sacred flag of the Sikh faith) from all the Sikh Gurudwaras from Telangana will be carried by the Nishanchis (flag-bearers). The procession from Secunderabad  Gurudwara will pass through the main corridors of Clock Tower, Secunderabad, Sangeet X Roads, Keys High School, Oliphant Bridge, Chilkalguda, Mylargadda and return back to Gurudwara Saheb Sitafalmandi in the evening.

Devotees from across the state will take part in the processions. Guru Granth Sahebji (Revered Holy Scripture of the Sikhs) will be carried on a beautifully decorated vehicle along with “Nishaan Sahebans” all along the procession. The Holy Procession will be marked by rendering of Shabad Kirtans  (Holy Hymns) by Jatha Tera Jatha, Simran Jatha, Nirvair Akali Jatha, Gurmukh Jatha Sitafalmandi, Istri Satsang and other jathas. Major attraction of the procession will be the display of  “Gatka” a  famous Sikh martial art form and other breathtaking sword exercises all along  procession by the Dashmesh Kalgidhar Jatha. “Panj Pyaras” (five beloved ones) in their traditional attire will be the cynosure of  attraction in the procession.

A Vishal Kirtan Darbar (mass congregations) will be organised from 10.30 am to 5 pm on November 30, 2025 (Sunday) at NTR Stadium, Indira Park where hundreds of Sikh devotees and other community faiths will converge at the function.
