58 Pakistani Soldiers Killed: Afghan Minister

Kabul/Islamabad/Internet/Hyderabad, Oct 12 (Maxim News): Tensions are escalating on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border by the hour. Fierce firing is going on from both sides. While the Taliban government says that they opened fire against Pakistani provocations, Pakistan claims that the Afghans opened fire on them without any reason. In view of the current situation, Pakistan has completely closed both borders.

However, Taliban government spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said that 58 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the firing by their forces. He said that 30 soldiers were injured. Nine soldiers were killed and 18 were injured on the Afghan side, he said at a press conference held in Kabul on Sunday afternoon.

However, Pakistan did not confirm these figures. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced that three soldiers and one civilian were killed on its side. Pakistani media reported that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari had strongly condemned the Afghan actions. The Pakistani army was ready to give a strong response to the Taliban government.

The Pakistan army is targeting Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Noor Wali Mehsud. In this context, drone strikes were carried out in Kabul yesterday evening. Two senior TTP leaders were killed in these attacks. Is Mehsud among them? Details are yet to be known. In response to the drone strikes, the Afghan army has opened fire on the Pakistani border. The Taliban have captured two Pakistani posts in Helmand province. Heavy firing is reported in Kunar, Nangarhar and Helmand areas.
