FLO Donates 10 Sanitary Pads Vending Machines and 2 Incinerators to Petlaburj Govt Maternity Hospital

Smt Sweta Mohanty, IAS, Commissioner of Health & Family Welfare was the chief guest and gave away the much-needed equipment

Hyderabad: FLO (FICCI Ladies Organisation) donates incinerators, Sanitary Pads Vending Machines to Petlaburj Govt Maternity Hospital, Puranapool.

These were donated through the hands of Smt Sweta Mohanty, IAS, Commissioner of Health & Family Welfare in a brief function held at its premises on Monday. FLO Hyderabad donated 10 vending machines and 2 incinerators in the Hospital, distributed 3000 sanitary pads to expectant mothers, and gifted a Mom & Baby gift bundle to about 85 new mothers in the maternity ward.

Disclosing this in a press note issued in the city on Tuesday, Ms. Ritu Shah, Chairperson of FLO Hyderabad said, these donations were made Under their initiative Sustain Her Health. According to her, FLO Hyderabad also organized a Menstrual Health Camp at the same premises.

Ms. Sweta Mohanty stressed the importance of Menstrual hygiene, which she said is vital to the empowerment and well-being of women and girls

Menstruation is an inevitable part of most women’s lives. The average woman would observe menstruation every month of her life, she added.

Women menstruate for approximately 35 years. And over this period the average woman would go through 20, 000 to 25,000 sanitary pads, other speakers who spoke on the occasion added.

FLO Hyderabad Chairperson Ms. Ritu Shah and Superintendent Doctor in the Hospital Dr. Malathy, stressed the importance of menstrual hygiene, especially on ways and means to keep up one’s own body during the menstrual cycle and sanitation for the overall well-being of new mothers.

The event was attended by over 300 expectant mothers in the area who were keen on novel methods of sanitation and were given a demo on how the sanitary pad vending machine and incinerators work. Other doctors and staff in the Hospital also attended the event to know more about new developments in menstrual hygiene.
