Hundred percent GVP points should be removed: Ronald Rose

Hyderabad, March 19: Commissioner Ronald Rose has directed AMHOs to pay special attention to C&D waste in the city. On Tuesday, a meeting was held on sanitation management with Zonal Commissioners and Health and Sanitation Department officials in the command control hall of GHMC headquarters. Facial recognition attendance system, supervision of street sweeping missions, removal of GVPs, C&D wastage, etc. were discussed and many suggestions were made.

On this occasion, Commissioner Ronald Rose said… he ordered to monitor the attendance of SWG workers and take steps to implement mobile based facial recognition (face recognition) biometric attendance system regarding the attendance of sanitation workers. Pin point program should be done and sweeping machines should be monitored. Black covers should be used to deposit the swept garbage and designated garbage collection points should be identified. Garbage collection point route planning and tie up with rickety vehicles. He said that boards should be displayed to prevent littering on the roads.

The street vendors/shops should take steps to set up garbage bins and they should be fined for littering wherever they fall. Street vendors and commercial shop owners have been advised to tie up with clean auto trolleys for collection of market waste.

Strict action has been taken against illegal dumping of C&D waste. Meetings should be held with truck operators and citizens and truck operators should be made aware of toll free number and mobile applications. It is said that those who are carrying out construction in many areas of the city are dumping construction material on the road, such people should be fined and if they do the same, the material should be seized and an FIR should also be registered. They want to take steps to keep construction materials inside.

It was ordered to take steps to completely remove the garbage vulnerable points. Proper planning should be done for proper lifting of GVPs, additional vehicles should be provided at zonal level and vehicles should be tracked, he said. It is suggested to create awareness with SLFs among all waste users and to restore bulk waste generators.
