The luxury watches, valued at Rs. 1.73 crore, were seized on February 5 from an Indian National arriving from Singapore. Harsha Reddy who is a director in a family-owned firm, was supposed to appear before Customs on april 4 but has sought postponement due to dengue fever, agreeing to attend after April 27. Investigations suggest Harsha Reddy bought the watches from one Mubeen through an intermediary, Alokam Neveen Kumar, who has admitted to facilitating the deal using cryptocurrency and hawala transactions.

Harsha Reddy denies any involvement, calling the allegations baseless. The case involved two watches, a Patek Philippe 5740 and a Breguet 2759- seized from Muhammed Faherdeen Mubeen. The Madras High Court has dismissed Naveen Kumar’s anticipatory bail, with the court noting the smuggling might exceed Rs. 100 crore.
