Hyderabad, Aug 9 (Maxim News): The Kotak Education Foundation (KEF), the CSR arm of the Kotak Mahindra Group, has unveiled an expansion of its Kotak Kanya Scholarship program, increasing the number of scholarships to 500 for its fourth year. This initiative aims to support the higher education of deserving girls from economically disadvantaged backgrounds across India.

Financial Support and Holistic Development

The Kotak Kanya Scholarship provides financial assistance of INR 1,50,000 per year for 4 to 5 years, helping students pursue higher education without financial constraints. Beyond financial aid, the program emphasizes holistic development, offering intensive student engagement and finishing school activities designed to prepare scholars for professional success.

Impressive Growth and Achievements

Since its inception, the Kotak Kanya Scholarship has grown significantly, with the number of supported scholars rising from 50 in 2021 to 525 in 2023—an increase of 950%. The program now spans 24 states and includes 122 esteemed institutions across the country, including top-ranked NIRF colleges and prestigious institutes like the IITs, NITs, NLUs, and AIIMS.

Enhanced Support for STEM and Professional Fields

The scholarship program focuses heavily on STEM fields, with 86% of scholars pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Notably, 40% of students from IITs have achieved an All-India rank within the top 10,000 in JEE Advanced. Additionally, KEF provides supplementary resources such as Unstop and Marrow subscriptions for engineering and medical students to further develop their skills.

KEF has partnered with renowned finishing school organizations like Talerang and Plaksha University to deliver certified training and career preparation. Scholarship recipients have secured internships with leading companies such as Google, Jaguar Land Rover India, and Goldman Sachs, and have excelled in moot court competitions.

Eligibility Criteria

The Kotak Kanya Scholarship is open to meritorious girls across India who meet the following criteria:

  • Achieved 75% or higher marks or an equivalent CGPA in class 12 board examinations.
  • Annual family income below INR 6,00,000.
  • Secured admission to a first-year graduation program in 2024 at a reputable institution for professional degrees in fields such as Engineering, MBBS, Integrated LLB, Design, Architecture, BSC Nursing, or research.
