ITI In Every Assembly Constituency Of Telangana: Aim to Boost Youth Employability

Hyderabad, Sept 30 (Maxim News): With the Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) playing a crucial role in equipping youth with practical skills and enhancing their employability, the State government is reportedly planning to set up at least one ITI in each assembly constituency in the State.

Currently, 65 ITIs are functioning in the State and the government is preparing to set up another 40 of them in a phased manner. A survey conducted by the Labour and Employment Department revealed that there were no government ITIs in 64 constituencies out of the total 119 in the State.

The initiative to set up ITIs in every Assembly constituency was being taken up at the request of MLAs. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has reportedly told officials to start the process of setting up ITIs on a war footing. The government has plans to start these ITIs from next academic year.

ITIs To Be A One-Stop Solution For The Students

The State government has plans to develop these ITIs as a one-stop solution wherein students will not only get training in courses designed especially for the job market but also get employment and self-employment opportunities under one roof, the officials said.

The State government has already allocated Rs. 2,324 crore to upgrade 65 of its ITIs to Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) to meet the growing needs of industries. The government has entered into a 10-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Technologies Limited (TTL) to upgrade 65 ITIs as ATCs in the state.

The government is planning to introduce Industry 5.0 courses in these ATCs, including long-term and short-term programs, and bridge courses to meet industrial skill demands, as part of this initiative.  Some of the cutting-edge courses include Product Design Development, Advanced manufacturing, IoT Digital Instrumentation, Process Control Automation, Additive Manufacturing, Modern Automotive Maintenance, Prototyping Industrial Robotics, AI-Based Virtual Welding and Painting.  (Maxim News)
