State Awaiting For Central Clearance Of Second Phase Of Metrol Rail Project: Estimated Cost Rs.24,269 Cr

Hyderabad, Oct 27 (Maxim News): The State government headed by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has cleared the second phase of the Metro Rail project. The government has launched the second phase of Metro with an estimate of Rs. 24,269 crores. Once the Central government approves, the second phase of the metro will start.

The state government has set a target to complete it in the next four years. Metro Rail Hyderabad is serving 69 kms in three corridors in the first phase. The first phase of the project is a public-private partnership with a budget of Rs. 22,000 crores completed. At present around 5 lakh people are traveling in the metro every day. If the second phase of metro rail becomes available another 8 lakh people are likely to travel in the city every day. With the implementation of the first phase of Metro Rail, Hyderabad is at the second position in the country, while Delhi is at the first position.

The Congress government has criticized the previous government for ignoring the metro expansion for seven years. Other cities in the country have also completed the second and third phases of construction. As a result, Hyderabad has fallen from 2nd position to 9th position in metro services. Hyderabad was overtaken by Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Calcutta, Pune, Nagpur and Ahmedabad.  The Revanth Reddy government has focused on the expansion of the metro. It has been decided to expand the metro. In the second phase, DPR has prepared a 76.4 km metro expansion in five corridors. With this, the cabinet approved the detailed project report of the second phase of the metro.

In the second phase, the government has proposed five new corridors. The fourth corridor is from Nagole to Shamshabad Airport (36.8 km), the fifth corridor is from Rayadurg to Kokapet (11.6 km), the sixth corridor is from MGBS to ChandrayanGutta (7.5 km), and the seventh corridor is from Miyapur to Patancheru.  (13.4 km), Eighth Corridor LB Nagar to Hayathnagar (7.1 km),  Metro is planning the second phase of works under PPP mode with the participation of Central and State governments. The total estimated cost of the second phase project is Rs. 24,269 crores.  30 percent of which is Rs. 7313 crores from the State government.  18 percent of Rs. 4,230 crores will be spent by the central government.  The government has prepared a DPR to provide 52 percent of the funds through loans and PPP.
