Big Jolt For Kejriwal: LG Gives Nod To ED To Prosecute AAP Chief

Hyderabad, Dec 21 (Maxim News):  Ahead of the Delhi Assembly Elections, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has received a shock. It is reported that the Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) has permitted the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to prosecute Kejriwal in the liquor scam case. With this, the line will be cleared for a special court trial against Kejriwal in the liquor scam money laundering case.

According to the CrPC, government permission is mandatory for questioning public servants, but this permission was not required in ED cases in the past. According to the latest order given by the Supreme Court on November 6. Government permission is required for questioning public servants in ED cases as well. With this, the ED has sought LB’s permission to question Kejriwal.

Meanwhile, it is known that Kejriwal, who was arrested in the liquor case and was in Tihar jail, was released after the Supreme Court granted him bail. After coming out, he resigned from his post as CM. He is currently focused on the Delhi Assembly elections due in February next year. AAP has already announced its list of candidates for the elections.  (Maxim News)
