Hyderabad Recieve Rains, More Rainfall Likely

Hyderabad, Dec 25 (Maxim News): Cloudy skies, occasional micro-drizzle, and the sun trying its best to peep out of the dark clouds! The rare weather in Hyderabad with dark clouds in the middle of winter has added to the joy of the ongoing year-end holiday season Christmas Day celebrations.

All through Wednesday, skies were overcast with several parts of Hyderabad reporting anywhere from 1 mm to 2 mm of light drizzle while the minimum temperatures, according to the data from automatic weather stations of Telangana Development Planning Society (TSDPS), remained around 20 degrees Celsius.

Interestingly, on Wednesday, the minimum temperatures during the night and maximum temperatures during the day have literally remained the same and hovered between 20 degrees C and 22 degrees C.

In its Wednesday afternoon forecast, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad has said that similar weather will continue till December 29. “Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur in isolated places of Telangana.  Mist or hazy conditions with light drizzle are very likely to prevail during morning hours in Hyderabad,” the IMD-Hyderabad city and Telangana State forecast till December 29, said. 

Noted amateur enthusiast from Hyderabad T Balaji (Telangana Weatherman) on X said that it is rare to see such kind of widespread rains on Christmas Day.  “To my memory, I have not seen such rain in the last 10 years in the city.  Though it’s been light-moderate rains, it is very rare to happen, he posted.

The amateur weather enthusiast also pointed out that in 2023, the winter was warm and less rainy while in 2024, the winter is cool and more rainy days.  (Maxim News)
