Political Controversy Over Death Of Women Congress Worker In Haryana

A major political controversy has erupted in Haryana after the body of a woman Congress worker was discovered near the Sampla Bus Stand on the Rohtak-Delhi highway. This shocking incident took place on the same day as the state’s municipal elections.

Identification of the Victim

The deceased has been identified as Himani Narwal, an active office-bearer of the Youth Congress in Rohtak, a stronghold of former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Expressing his grief, Hooda took to X, calling the incident “barbaric” and “a blot on the law and order situation of the state.” He extended his condolences to Narwal’s family and paid tribute to her.

Discovery of the Body

Narwal’s body was found inside a large blue suitcase near the Sampla Bus Stand on Friday. Upon discovery, authorities from the Sampla police station were immediately informed. Reports indicate that she had a scarf wrapped around her neck and mehendi on her hands.  

Himani Narwal’s Political Involvement

Hailing from Kathura village in Sonepat, Narwal was deeply involved in Congress activities. According to an Hindustan Times report, she participated in multiple political events and was closely associated with Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda. She was also known for performing alongside Haryanvi folk artists at Congress rallies and social gatherings.  

Recognition of Her Contributions

Her X profile listed her as the Indian Youth Congress Vice President. Former Youth Congress chief Srinivas BV recalled her dedication, stating that she had served as the District Vice President of Rohtak Rural during his tenure. He also noted her active participation in the Bharat Jodo Yatra and other organizational events.

Close Association with Senior Congress Leaders

Narwal was also seen accompanying Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Congress MLA Bharat Bhushan Batra highlighted her significant role in supporting Bhupinder Hooda and Deepender Hooda during the Haryana assembly election campaign.  

The incident has raised serious concerns about law and order in the state, intensifying the political discourse ahead of the elections.
