Drugs Worth ₹75 Crore Seized in Karnataka; Two South African Nationals Arrested

Bengaluru/Hyderabad, March 16 (Maxim News): In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Mangaluru Police have seized over 37 kg of MDMA, valued at ₹75 crore, marking the biggest drug haul in Karnataka’s history. Two South African nationals were arrested in Bengaluru in connection with the case, officials confirmed on Sunday.

Addressing a press conference, Mangaluru Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal revealed that the operation was part of a six-month-long investigation.

The probe began in September last year when police arrested Haider Ali in Umpwell, Mangaluru, and seized 15 grams of MDMA from him. Further investigations led them to a Nigerian national, Peter, who was arrested in Bengaluru with drugs worth ₹6 crore.

As police dug deeper, they uncovered an international drug network operating through air routes between Delhi and Bengaluru.

Two South African Nationals Nabbed in Bengaluru

Based on intelligence inputs, the Mangaluru Central Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested two South African nationalsBamba Fant (31) and Abigail Adonis (30) – on March 14 in Neeladri Nagar, Electronic City, Bengaluru.

Authorities found MDMA hidden in their trolley bags, along with four mobile phones, passports, and ₹18,000 in cash.

Police Investigating Larger Drug Network

According to police sources, the arrested suspects were allegedly supplying drugs to Nigerian peddlers operating in Bengaluru and other parts of India. They are also suspected of using forged passports and visas for international travel.

The investigation is still ongoing to unravel the larger network behind this massive drug racket, officials said. (Maxim News)
