Tension In Osmania University Has Police Arrested Protesting Students
Hyderabad, Mar 17 (Maxim News): Tension prevailed on the Osmania University campus as local police dragged several students from the historic Arts College, which was the epicenter of Telangana agitation, and arrested them for calling a bandh in protest against the varsity circular banning protests on campus here on Monday.
A large number of police entered the Arts College building and arrested at least five ABVP student activists. The videos of the arrests were widely circulated.
The police also arrested several Joint Action Committee leaders for taking out a rally from the Arts College demanding immediate withdrawal of the circular.
ABVP national executive member and Telangana Universities Coordinator Jeevan said the police arrests would not stop them from fighting for their democratic rights on the campus.
Demanding withdrawal of the circular in the next 24 hours, Jeevazn said if not revoked students would fight it tooth and nail. (Maxim News)
