Delhi/Hyderabad, May 20 (Maxim News) Delhi Police arrested alleged Lashkar operative Shabbir Ahmad Lone, who reportedly underwent hair transplant and dental treatment in Gurugram to alter his appearance while operating terror networks linked to India from Bangladesh.
Shabbir Ahmad Lone, an alleged Lashkar-e-Taiba operative arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell, reportedly underwent cosmetic procedures in Gurugram to change his appearance while allegedly operating terror networks linked to India from Bangladesh, sources said.
Lone, also known by the aliases Raja and Kashmiri, was arrested near the Delhi border during a joint operation conducted by the Special Cell’s NDR unit and central agencies. Originally from the Kangan area of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir, he had allegedly been under surveillance for running India-focused terror activities from Bangladesh.
His arrest came shortly after security agencies uncovered a Lashkar-linked module operating in Delhi and parts of South India. Investigators claimed the group was involved in putting up anti-India posters in Delhi and Kolkata as part of propaganda and operational activities.
According to sources, Lone spent nearly ₹1.5 lakh on a hair transplant procedure at a clinic in Gurugram. Officials believe he was attempting to alter his appearance to avoid detection while remaining underground.
Sources further said the accused also underwent dental treatment in Gurugram to improve his appearance. Investigators suspect the cosmetic changes were part of a broader effort to conceal his identity while coordinating activities linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Officials claimed Lone was previously in direct contact with Lashkar founder and UN-designated terrorist Hafiz Saeed and had received terror training in Pakistan. He was earlier arrested in 2005 for allegedly planning a fidayeen attack in Delhi.
After being released from jail, investigators believe Lone escaped to Bangladesh, where he allegedly revived Lashkar networks and helped establish modules in Delhi and several other states. Police had earlier arrested multiple Bangladeshi youths allegedly connected to the network.
Delhi Police has not yet issued an official statement regarding the alleged cosmetic procedures linked to the accused. (Maxim News)
