Adulteration is taking place in the preparation of food items, in their storage, in their packaging. Oils, Chili powder, starches, turmeric, spices, etc., are all being adulterated at present.  Food adulteration has increased drastically regardless of whether it is in cities, towns, or villages.

Biryani centers, fast food, and tiffin centers are available everywhere, day and night.  In cities, however, many people have given up cooking at home and eat everything from morning tiffins to dinner outside.  Drug addicts have nothing to say.  They do not even think about what they are eating.  What they are drinking.  In addition to this, they are adulterating food products without caring about quality.

In this context, the Union Ministry of Medical and Health recently reported to Parliament the details of food samples collected across the country between 2021-24, including the samples found to be adulterated, state-wise.  It is shocking to everyone that an average of 22 percent of the food samples collected by food safety officials across the country in the last four years were adulterated.  According to these figures, Telugu states topped the list of food adulteration among the southern states.
