Swadeshi Jagaran Manch Demands Ban On Starlink In India

Swadeshi Jagaran Manch  | New Delhi, Oct. 13: Swadeshi Jagaran Manch (SJM) has demanded a ban on Starlink’s entry into India, citing concerns over national security and data protection. SJM National Co-Convenor Ashwani Mahajan also criticised remarks made by billionaire Elon Musk about India.

Starlink, owned by Musk, has applied for a licence to provide commercial broadband services in India. According to the report, authorities have neither approved nor rejected the application so far.

The SJM leader cited security concerns arising from experiences involving satellite communication services in countries including Ukraine, Iran, Russia, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Brazil, Venezuela and Sudan.

The demand comes as Starlink awaits regulatory clearance to offer commercial broadband services in India. The security concerns raised by SJM represent the organisation’s position and do not establish that Starlink has violated Indian law.
