Teenager Drowns In Canal In Nirmal; Third From Family To Die By Drowning

Nirmal/Hyderabad, April 24 (Maxim News): A 17-year-old Intermediate student was washed away in a canal of the Sri Ram Sagar project while swimming at Siddapur village in Nirmal mandal late on Wednesday evening. He was the third person to meet such a tragic fate in his family.

Police said Haneef, an Intermediate II year student and the younger son of Ibrahim, met a watery grave when he, along with two friends, ventured to swim in the canal at around 5 pm.

Haneef was washed away due to the excess flow of water in the canal.  His friends were helpless when Haneef suddenly got washed away. They informed his parents, who in turn sought help from the police.

Police rushed to the spot and launched a search for Haneef.  However, the body was not retrieved from the canal till Thursday morning. Haneef was studying at a minority residential college in Nirmal town.

Locals said that drowning continued to haunt the family of Ibrahim.  Two siblings of Haneef had also drowned earlier.  (Maxim News)
