Telangana Local Body Elections Campaign Is On: Muhurat Fixed
Hyderabad, May 4 (Maxim News): The Telangana government has taken a key decision on the conduct of local body elections. It is reported that it has been decided to hold the already delayed Sarpanch elections in July. It seems that CM Revanth Reddy has issued key orders to the officials in this regard.
To this extent, the state government and the Telangana State Election Commission (TSEC) had already made all the preparations two months ago. But the government changed its decision after the caste surve and the demand of various BC organizations to hold elections only after increasing the promised BC reservation to 42 percent.
But now the decision taken by the NDA government to include caste enumeration in the census will become an even bigger headache for the Congress government. There is a discussion in government circles that BC reservation has become questionable. While two bills on caste enumeration have already been passed in the assembly. BC reservations in local bodies, education and jobs have been approved at 42 percent. They have been sent for central approval.
“The entire census, including the caste census and its approval, takes at least two years. The state government did not wait two years without holding elections. The term of the gram panchayats and zilla parishads ended last year,” said a senior official. The term of the gram panchayats ended on January 31, 2024. The term of the zilla parishads ended in July last year. (Maxim News)
