Golconda Bonalu Fair Draws Huge Crowds, Festivities Continue with Devotional Fervor

Hyderabad, June 29 (Maxim News): The historic Golconda Fort is pulsating with energy and devotion as the Bonalu Festival of Aashada Masam, a symbol of Telangana’s rich culture and spiritual heritage, continues with immense enthusiasm. Devotees began thronging the site in large numbers from the early hours of Sunday to offer their prayers and bonam to Jagadambika Ammavaru, the presiding deity of the fort.

The Golconda Bonalu Fair is witnessing vibrant participation, especially on Sundays, when the number of devotees traditionally surges. The fort and its surroundings have been transformed into a hub of devotional celebration, with spiritual chants, cultural performances, and traditional Pothuraju processions enhancing the festive atmosphere.

Special Arrangements for Devotees

To accommodate the influx of devotees, the Telangana state government has made extensive arrangements, including water supply, sanitation, medical aid, and security. Special attention has been given to those traveling from distant locations, ensuring a smooth and spiritually enriching experience.

The celebrations, which began on June 26, will continue till July 24, with nine poojas being performed for Ammavaru throughout the month. Offerings are made every Thursday and Sunday, drawing lakhs of devotees from Hyderabad and surrounding districts.

A Celebration of Telangana’s Cultural Identity

Golconda Bonalu holds historical and cultural significance, being one of the earliest venues where the Bonalu tradition began. It marks a deep-rooted faith in the Goddess and the belief that her blessings bring health, prosperity, and protection from epidemics.
