Police Arrested BRS Leader G Srinivas Yadav For Attack On Mahaa News Office In Hyderabad
Hyderabad, June 29 (Maxim News): In a significant development, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader G Srinivas Yadav was arrested by Jubilee Hills police on Saturday night in connection with the attack on the Mahaa News channel office.
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon after the news channel reportedly aired allegedly derogatory content against former Chief Minister and BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR). In response, a group of unidentified individuals stormed the Mahaa News premises and vandalized office property, triggering widespread condemnation.
Following the attack, a case was registered at Jubilee Hills Police Station under multiple sections related to criminal trespass and damage to property.
Sources revealed that during the preliminary investigation, police identified the involvement of Srinivas Yadav. Acting on a tip-off, police reached Telangana Bhavan, the BRS headquarters in Hyderabad, where they found and arrested Yadav.
The arrest sparked protests from BRS supporters, who gathered at Telangana Bhavan late Saturday night to denounce the police action. The protest briefly created tension in the area, prompting deployment of additional security forces to prevent escalation.
Police Continue Investigation
Authorities are examining CCTV footage and eyewitness statements to identify other individuals involved in the attack. Further arrests are expected in the coming days.
Meanwhile, journalists and media rights groups have condemned the violence, urging political parties to respect press freedom and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
Political Tensions Escalate
The incident has intensified the political atmosphere in Telangana, as opposition leaders call for accountability and protection of media institutions, while BRS leaders accuse Mahaa News of airing “provocative and biased content.”
The Telangana police have assured a thorough investigation into the matter and strict action against anyone found guilty, regardless of political affiliation.
