BRS Leaders Booked For Obstructing Police During Telangana Bhavan Arrest Operation
Hyderabad, June 29 (Maxim News): The Banjara Hills police have registered a suo moto case against several Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders for allegedly obstructing law enforcement personnel during the arrest of party leader Gellu Srinivas Yadav at Telangana Bhavan on Saturday night.
The case pertains to a confrontation that took place when police attempted to detain BRS workers linked to the attack on Mahaa News channel office. Senior leaders such as Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council S. Madhusudhana Chary and former MLA Balka Suman reportedly intervened during the operation.
Arrests Following Media Office Attack
The Jubilee Hills police had arrested around 20 BRS leaders and student wing activists, including Gellu Srinivas Yadav, in connection with the vandalism at Mahaa News. The attack was allegedly triggered by the channel airing content deemed derogatory to former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) and BRS working president K. Taraka Rama Rao (KTR).
Legal Dispute Over Police Action
On Sunday, police conducted searches at Srinivas Yadav’s residence in the new MLA quarters, prompting BRS legal cell representatives and advocates to protest the move. Citing the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS) provisions, the legal team alleged that due process was not followed and raised objections to the manner in which the search and arrest were carried out.
Security Tightened at Telangana Bhavan
Following the incident, security has been beefed up around Telangana Bhavan, the BRS party headquarters. The situation remains tense as party workers continue to protest the arrest of their leaders, alleging political vendetta.
The Hyderabad police are continuing their investigation and are expected to summon more individuals for questioning in the days ahead.
