We Are Not Afraid of Small Factions,” Says Kharge at TPAC Meeting, Warns Dissident MLAs

Hyderabad, July 4 (Maxim News): AICC Chief Mallikarjun Kharge expressed a firm stance against factionalism within the party during the Political Affairs Committee (TPAC) meeting held at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday. Kharge made it clear that neither he nor Rahul Gandhi will tolerate leaders who prioritize personal interests over the party’s unity.

“Do you think we will be afraid if four or five people form groups? Rahul and I don’t care about self-serving leaders. The party’s disciplinary committee will handle such matters. Party leaders must follow rules and regulations and not speak as they please,” Kharge said, warning members to uphold party discipline.

Senior AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal also criticized some leaders for their controversial and reckless behavior. “Some Congress leaders are showing excessive enthusiasm, but people are watching our every move. We must act carefully. Those who work with their own agendas will be removed. We expect no damage to the party from such behavior,” Venugopal stated. He urged the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) to prepare district-wise lists of aspirants for party and government posts.

Kharge set a clear deadline for the Telangana PCC to fill all vacant party and government posts by July 30. “If the posts are not filled by then, PCC chief Mahesh Goud will be responsible,” he warned. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy supported the move, saying that in-charge ministers must take responsibility and submit lists to the TPCC chief. Kharge added, “Only those who have worked for the party should be given posts.”

Despite internal tensions, Kharge praised the Telangana Congress government for its efforts in implementing the manifesto promises. “Congress will go down in history as the only party that fulfills its promises. The Telangana administration and party workers are performing well. The party must make full use of the positions entrusted to them,” he said. Kharge also criticized BJP leaders for their selective memory regarding the Emergency, noting, “Why do they not talk about the Emergency conditions during their 11 years in power?”

In a related development, PCC chief Mahesh Goud has expressed displeasure with Jadcherla MLA Anirudh Reddy over his recent controversial comments. Consequently, the disciplinary committee is set to issue a show-cause notice to the MLA at its upcoming meeting on Monday.
