UNICEF India Applauds Hyderabad’s Bharosa Centres for Pioneering Child and Women Safety Initiatives

Hyderabad, July 4 (Maxim News): In a significant endorsement, Jairus Ligoo, Chief of Child Protection at UNICEF India, along with his team, visited the Bharosa Center in Hyderabad and praised its innovative efforts in child and women protection.

During the visit, the UNICEF delegation lauded the Bharosa Center’s comprehensive support system for victims of abuse and violence. Ligoo commended the collaborative approach between the center, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders, calling it a model that could be replicated globally, especially in developing and underdeveloped countries.

“A great demonstration of how children and women’s safety in modern cities can be enhanced. It is a right, not anything else. BRAVO!!” said Ligoo, appreciating the integrated services offered by the center.

Visit to Child-Friendly Court

The team also visited the Child-Friendly Court attached to the Bharosa Center and expressed admiration for its thoughtful design and child-centric environment. The court, developed to reduce trauma and provide a safe space for child victims, was highlighted as a unique initiative that sets a global example.

Support from Hyderabad Police

The Bharosa team, led by Dr. Lavanya NJP, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Women Safety), Inspector G. Manjula, and Center Administrator Mary Augustine, briefed the UNICEF officials about the range of services provided—such as counseling, legal aid, medical support, and safe housing.

They also explained how Bharosa Centers play a crucial role in empowering women and children, ensuring that justice is accessible and compassionate.
