To contest for the post of Vice President, one must be a citizen of India.  Must be at least 35 years of age.  Must also be eligible to be elected as a member of the Rajya Sabha.  Also, not holding an office of profit.

The Secretary General of the Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha will be appointed as the Returning Officer on a rotational basis.  However, Article 66 states that the entire process of nomination, scrutiny, withdrawal, and polling must be completed within 32 days.  (Maxim News)
