Water Levels Rise In Osman Sagar And Himayat Sagar Reservoir
Hyderabad, Aug 6 (Maxim News): The incessant and heavy rains that have been lashing Hyderabad and the surrounding districts for the last one week has resulted in water bodies receiving copious inflows.
Apart from the lakes in the city and also those that dot the suburbs, the twin reservoirs of osman sagar and Himayat Sagar which supplied drinking water to the city for decades have been recording a good inflow of rain water.
The catchment areas receiving good rainfall in the last one week has resulted in fresh inflows into the twin reservoirs and water levels rising.
According to the Hyderabad metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) which has been monitoring the water bodies, Osmansagar at around 8 am on Wednesday recorded water levels of 1,782 feet while its full tank level (FTL) is 1,790 feet. The fresh inflows have been estimated to be around 50 cusecs.
Meanwhile, water levels in Himayat Sagar have been rising towards the brim 1,762.35 feet today morning as against a FTL of 1,763.50 feet. The inflows of 1,600 cusecs has resulted in the levels being just a foot down the FTL.
HMWSSB officials with a close eye on water levels have geared up to tackle possible scenarios if the levels rise further in the twin reservoirs. (Maxim News)
