Godavari River In Its Fury: Floods Up To Basara Saraswati Temple
Basara/Hyderabad, Aug 30 (Maxim News): River Godavari is flowing violently at Basara due to heavy rains upstream. Basara town is waterlogged as the flood waters increase. The main road up to the Saraswati temple is submerged. The floodwaters have reached the Vyas Maharshi temple and the TTD houses in the temple premises.
Shops at the temple, private lodges, inns, and the road leading from Pushkar Ghat to the Ammavari temple are submerged. As the floodwaters flowed over the bridge over Godavari, backwaters have reached Ganga Devi, Suryeshwar Shiva Temple, Akshara Colony, SBI, Union Bank, and Vysya Satra.
Authorities evacuated those trapped in floodwaters in Akshara Colony with the help of tractors. As the flood engulfed, 30 students and six teachers were trapped in Nagabhushan Vidyalaya. As a result, they all went to the upper floor of the building.
As a result, 8 people who went to bring them out also got trapped in the floodwaters. Meanwhile, authorities are predicting that the floodwaters are likely to increase further in the next few hours. In this context, local people are being alerted.(Maxim News)
