Washington/Internet/Hyderabad, Sept 5 (Maxim News): US President, Donald Trump has urged European leaders to immediately halt purchases of Russian oil, arguing that continuing energy trade with Russia is funding Russia’s war in Ukraine. Trump made the comments during a video call with the ‘Coalition of the Willing’, a coalition of allies supporting Ukraine, after a Paris summit hosted by Fresh president Emmanuel Macron.
It is known that the Trump government recently announced an additional 25 percent tariff on Indian exports. With this, the burden of tariffs has doubled to 50%. It is believed that the tariffs have been imposed to this extent because of the purchase of oil from Russia. Trump said that Europe will also import Russian oil in large quantities in this process. He said that European countries are financing Russia, which is waging war on Ukraine, by buying that country’s oil.
Trump expressed his displeasure at Europe’s efforts to end the war while providing Russia With oil purchases. Trump cited internal data showing that the EU had paid Russia 1.1 billion euros in energy sales over the past year as Russia waged war on Ukraine.
However, some EU countries have stopped importing crude oil from Russia in 2022 and refined fuel by 2023, while Hungary and Slovakia continue to import limited quantities. (Maxim News)
