Hyderabad, Sept 12 (Maxim News): BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Friday shared photos on X of MLAs joining the Congress, questioning the party’s stance on defections.

KTR wrote, “Does Rahul Gandhi remember those wearing Congress scarves in the photos? They also met him in Delhi. The same MLAs now claim they haven’t changed parties. Isn’t that the Congress scarf? Will Rahul Gandhi accept it? Isn’t this theft of MLAs? Is this not a bigger issue than vote theft?”

Responding sharply, Telangana Minister Seethakka hit back at KTR, accusing the BRS of being the very party that introduced large-scale defections in the state.

“KTR has no moral right to talk about defections. It was your party that started this culture right from 2014, the very next day after Telangana was officially formed, when you poached TDP and Congress MLAs and even made some of them ministers. Again in 2018, you engineered the defection of 13 Congress MLAs,” Seethakka said.

She pointed out that leaders like Talasani Srinivas Yadav (then TDP) and Sabitha Indra Reddy (then Congress) were made ministers in the BRS government without resigning from their parent parties.

Seethakka termed it “ironic” that the BRS, which normalized defections under KCR’s leadership, is now raising objections when its own MLAs are leaving. (Maxim News)
