Nalgonda/Hyderabad, Sept 16 (Maxim News) The POCSO Court in Nalgonda on Tuesday sentenced a 60-year-old man to 24 years of imprisonment for raping a 10-year-old girl. The accused, Marri Ushayya, from Anneparthy village in Nalgonda mandal, was also fined Rs 40,000.
The incident occurred on March 28, 2023, when the victim, a Class 4 student, was alone and sleeping at her home after returning from school. The accused broke into the house, woke up the minor and offered sweets before sexually assaulting her. He further threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
The victim’s mother lodged a complaint with the Nalgonda Rural Police Station on March 29, 2023. The police registered a case and the then SHO, Kancharla Baskar Reddy, investigated the case.
After a two-year trial, the POCSO Court’s In-Charge Judge, Roja Ramani, delivered the final verdict sentencing the accused to 24 years in prison. (Maxim News)
