Heavy rain in Hyderabad | Hyderabad, Oct. 5: The city of Hyderabad is likely to experience heavy rain on Sunday, according to the Meteorological Department.

A yellow alert has been issued for all districts of Telangana, including Hyderabad. Authorities have urged citizens to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary travel as the weather system is expected to intensify by afternoon and evening.

The Meteorological Department forecast indicates that moderate to heavy rain is likely to occur across several districts of Telangana throughout the day.

The alert covers Hyderabad, Komurambheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagtial, Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam, and Mahabubabad, among others. Officials said rainfall activity may begin by afternoon and continue till late night.

Cloudy skies and cool weather prevailed in Hyderabad since early morning, hinting at a possible spell of intense rainfall. The forecast has prompted GHMC and HYDRAA officials to remain on alert to handle potential waterlogging and flooding in low-lying areas.

Authorities have instructed emergency teams to be ready with pumps, rescue equipment, and vehicles to clear clogged drains and assist residents in case of flooding.

Citizens have been advised to avoid venturing out, especially in areas prone to water stagnation.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad traffic police have also appealed to motorists to drive cautiously and follow safety advisories.

Officials said special monitoring will be done in zones like Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Khairatabad, Lakdikapool, Tank Bund, and Ameerpet, where heavy water accumulation is often reported during rainfall.

The Meteorological Department said the rain activity may reduce gradually after Sunday night.
