The Election Commission has already released the schedule for local body elections, while the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election notification is expected within the next two to three days.

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Congress, BJP and AIMIM have all entered campaign mode, holding extensive meetings and groundwork in the city and rural constituencies.

BRS Takes Lead in Jubilee Hills

The BRS has taken the first step by officially announcing its candidate for the Jubilee Hills by-election. Party working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has declared Sunita, wife of late MLA Gopinath, as the candidate, making it a prestige battle for the Pink Party.

The BRS has intensified its campaign across divisions, organizing sympathy-based meetings and local interactions to consolidate support.

KTR is said to be personally overseeing the campaign strategy, emphasizing that the party must retain the seat at any cost.

Congress and BJP in Final Rounds of Candidate Selection

On the Congress front, a high-level panel led by Ministers Ponnam, Tummala, and Vivek has been conducting surveys and public interactions in Jubilee Hills.

According to party sources, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has instructed the ministers to submit four shortlisted names for the bypoll. The final decision will be made after consultations with AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan and PCC President Mahesh Kumar.

The Congress is expected to announce its candidate before the official bypoll schedule is released. Meanwhile, the BJP, led by Union Minister Kishan Reddy, has also intensified its presence in Jubilee Hills. The party has appointed a three-member committee to recommend potential candidates.

Kishan Reddy, who represents the area under his parliamentary constituency, has been actively participating in development inaugurations and public events, making this election a matter of prestige for him as well.

Local Body Polls Buzz and Reservation Issue

In rural Telangana, the local body election schedule has been issued for ZPTC, MPTC, and Sarpanch posts, to be conducted in five phases.

The government pushed for the polls after delays caused by BC reservation finalization. The GO on reservations was recently issued, clearing the way for the Election Commission to proceed.

However, the 42% BC reservation has sparked a legal tussle. Several petitions have been filed in the High Court and Supreme Court, challenging the move as unconstitutional. The outcome of these cases is eagerly awaited, while the political buzz in villages has already begun.

There is growing dissatisfaction among grassroots Congress workers, who claim they were not rewarded with posts even after the party came to power.

Amidst this unrest and halted development works, the government appears determined to go ahead with elections to restore administrative activity in rural areas.

As Telangana braces for a busy political season, the upcoming Jubilee Hills bypoll and local body elections are set to test the strength and strategy of all major parties ahead of the next electoral cycle.
