The bypoll was necessitated following the demise of sitting MLA Maganti Gopinath. While the BRS has swiftly named Maganti Sunitha as its candidate to retain the seat, both the Congress and BJP continue to weigh their options before making their announcements.

The Election Commission has set November 11 as the polling date, setting the stage for a high-stakes contest. Both major parties are carefully assessing winnability and community equations before finalizing their candidates, indicating that official announcements are expected soon.

Jubilee Hills Bypoll | Congress Camp: Is the Road Clear for Naveen Yadav?

Sources suggest that Naveen Yadav is likely to be fielded by the ruling Congress. He has been a strong aspirant from the start, facing competition from former Mayor Bonthu Rammohan and a few other leaders.

However, reports indicate that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy personally intervened, asking other contenders to step aside with assurances of recognition within the party. With this, Congress insiders say the “line is clear” for Naveen Yadav, whose name could be officially announced in the next 24 hours.

Jubilee Hills Bypoll | BJP Still in Discussion Mode

In the BJP, however, discussions remain inconclusive. Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, along with State President Ramachandra Rao, are said to have shortlisted three names and forwarded them to the party’s central leadership.
