Indian in Russia: Hyderabad Family seeks urgent help
Hyderabad, Oct 16 (Maxim News) : The family of an Indian citizen, Mohammad Ahmed, has appealed to the Government of India and the Indian Embassy in Moscow for immediate assistance to bring him back from Russia.
According to details shared by the family, Mohammad Ahmed, son of the resident at House No. 6-3-1242/2, MS Maqta, opposite Raj Bhavan, Hyderabad, Telangana, passport number X9564204, travelled to Russia in search of work through a Mumbai-based consultancy named “Trust Consultancy.”
The family identified the company’s owner as Adil, with mobile numbers 9313351959 and 8871259292. The family stated that Mohammad Ahmed departed for Russia on 25 April 2025. They said he was not given any work for about a month after arrival.
Later, he and around 30 workers were reportedly taken to an unknown area and forcibly trained to use weapons. Of these, six persons were said to be Indian citizens. The account alleges a shift from promised employment to coercive military-type training, which has alarmed the family. Mohammad Ahmed conveyed that, after the training, 26 individuals were sent to the Ukraine border for fighting.
During this period, he said he jumped from a military vehicle to escape and fractured his right leg. He further claimed that around 17 members of their group have died, and that he is now being threatened with death if he refuses to fight against Ukraine.
These claims form the basis of the family’s urgent plea for intervention and evacuation. The family emphasized that Mohammad Ahmed is the sole breadwinner. At home there is an ailing, stroke-affected elderly mother, his wife, and two young children — Zoya Begum (10) and Mohammad Taimur (4).
Meanwhile, they urged the central government, the Ministry of External Affairs, and the Indian Embassy in Moscow to establish contact and secure his safe return at the earliest. They also shared contact numbers to facilitate urgent outreach.
The family shared that Mohammad Ahmed can be reached in Russia at +7 916 602 5670 or on his Indian WhatsApp number 9032482034.
For coordination with the family in India, they listed Afshan Begum at 9392791578 and 8686719059.
