Candidate Having Three Children, Eligible To Contest Local Body Elections: Cabinet
Hyderabad, Oct 17 (Maxim News): The Telangana government has taken key decisions in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, bringing about key changes in local politics. This includes reforms in the local election code of conduct.
The cabinet has approved the removal of the rule that those with three children are ineligible to contest in local body elections. With this, now even those with three children in Telangana can contest in local elections like Panchayat, Municipality, ZPTC, MPTC. Along with this, the cabinet has also focused on issues like promotion of the agricultural sector and development of Hyderabad.
This monsoon season, 1.48 lakh metric tons of grain will be produced. This is a record production in the country. The Civil Supplies Department has estimated that 80 lakh metric tons of grain will reach the procurement centers in the state.
The Central Government has agreed to procure 50 lakh metric tons. The Cabinet has decided to request the Center to procure another 15 lakh metric tons. The Cabinet has decided to strictly manage the procurement of grain harvested during the monsoon season.
It has been decided to carry out the process of purchasing grain without any hassle for the farmers in coordination with the Agriculture Department, Revenue Department, Civil Supplies Department and Transport Department. It has been decided to immediately deposit the Rs. 500 bonus given to farmers in addition to the support price paid for paddy.
The cabinet has decided to have collectors and additional collectors inspect the purchase centers. The committee of officials will submit its report to the cabinet sub-committee.
