While traveling from Masab Tank toward Lakdikapool, the commissioners stopped near the Mehdi Function Hall, where rainwater had collected on the road, causing serious traffic disruptions. They questioned field engineers about the reasons for the water buildup and directed them to take immediate corrective action. Both commissioners noted that the persistent stagnation was creating major commuting problems for residents.

Ranganath and Karnan informed that drainage works had already been taken up in the area, including the laying of two-feet-wide pipelines on both sides of the road. However, they stressed the need to properly connect the pipelines to the existing sewage and floodwater channels coming from the Mahavir Hospital and Chintal Basti zones. The commissioners emphasized completing these linking works quickly to ensure effective rainwater outflow.

They further advised that clearing soil and debris from the pipelines along the road between Mahavir Hospital and Mehdi Function Hall could significantly improve drainage in the locality. The commissioners instructed that these measures should be completed within a day or two to relieve the affected zone.

Traffic police were also asked to assist and coordinate with municipal field teams so that the drainage works could proceed without hindering vehicle movement. HYDRA Additional Director Varla Papayya and Traffic DCP Sri Srinivas accompanied the commissioners during the inspection. Officials reiterated their determination to finish the repair and clearing operations on priority to prevent further waterlogging.
