Hyderabad: Brihaspathi Technologies Limited, a leading Indian CCTV surveillance system integration company, has secured a major Rs 25.34 crore project for upgrading the IP-based CCTV Surveillance System across the North-South (Blue Line) of Kolkata Metro Railway. The Hyderabad-based company is widely known for delivering advanced security and monitoring solutions that enhance public safety and operational efficiency.
The project will overhaul the existing analog surveillance infrastructure by implementing modern IP-based technology throughout the North-South corridor. According to the company, the upgrade aims to boost passenger safety and streamline metro operations through high-definition IP cameras, AI-powered video analytics, and centralized command and control systems for real-time monitoring.
Brihaspathi Technologies will also integrate advanced Video Management Software (VMS) and intelligent monitoring solutions. The initiative will enable Kolkata Metro to adopt proactive threat detection and rapid response systems, supported by a state-of-the-art Central Control Room that will oversee 24/7 surveillance across all metro stations and premises.
In parallel, the Kolkata Metro administration is planning to deploy 800 additional security personnel to improve CCTV-based supervision and ground-level vigilance. At present, metro passengers undergo regular screening and baggage checks, but the implementation of this high-tech surveillance network will significantly enhance the system’s ability to detect suspicious behavior, prevent incidents, and strengthen emergency response mechanisms.
