86 Students Fall Ill at BC Hostel Due to Suspected Food Poisoning

Jogulamba Gadwal/Hyderabad, Nov 1 (Maxim News): A case of suspected food poisoning has been reported at a BC Boys’ Hostel in Dharmavaram, Itikyal mandal of Jogulamba Gadwal district, where 86 students fell ill after dinner on Friday night.

According to officials, the hostel accommodates 125 students, of whom 110 were present on Friday. After dinner, several students began complaining of vomiting, stomach pain, and nausea. By around 9 p.m., the number of affected students increased rapidly.

More than 30 students started vomiting soon after eating, while others experienced severe abdominal pain. Hostel staff, upon noticing the situation, immediately alerted the warden and local authorities. The police and hostel staff quickly shifted the affected students to the Gadwal Government Hospital using 108 ambulances.

Doctors at the hospital provided prompt medical treatment and later confirmed that all students are now out of danger. They are being kept under observation as a precautionary measure.

Meanwhile, the incident has caused concern among parents and local residents, who have urged the authorities to ensure proper food safety measures in government hostels to prevent such incidents in the future. (Maxim News)
