Doctor Arrested in Hyderabad for Involvement in Drug Racket
Hyderabad, Nov 4 (Maxim News): In a shocking incident, a doctor was arrested in Hyderabad for his alleged involvement in a drug racket, causing widespread outrage in the city. Excise officials seized a significant quantity of narcotics worth around ₹3 lakh from his residence in Musheerabad.
According to the Excise Special Task Force Bureau (STFB), the accused, identified as Dr. John Paul, was allegedly procuring drugs from Delhi and Bengaluru along with three other youths — Pramod, Sandeep, and Sarath — and selling them in Hyderabad. The doctor’s house in Musheerabad was reportedly being used as a storage and distribution point for the illegal substances.
Based on a tip-off, the Excise STFB team, led by SI Balaraju and Constable Vijay Krishna, conducted a raid on Dr. John Paul’s residence. During the search, officials discovered a large quantity of narcotics, including:
- 26.95 grams of OG Kush (a high-grade strain of cannabis)
- 6.21 grams of MDMA (Ecstasy)
- 15 LSD sticks
- 1.32 grams of cocaine
- 5.80 grams of hummus (drug variant)
- 0.008 grams of hashish oil
Officials stated that Dr. John Paul not only assisted his friends in running the racket but was also personally consuming drugs. Following the seizure, he was taken into custody, while his three associates are currently absconding. A case has been registered against all four accused.
STF Team Leader Pradeep Rao confirmed the bust and appreciated his team’s swift action, while Excise Enforcement Director Shahnawaz Qasim lauded the officers for uncovering a major racket involving a member of the medical community.
Further investigation is underway to identify additional links in the supply network and determine how the group managed to source narcotics from other states. (Maxim News)
