Jubilee Hills By-Election: All Set for Polling Tomorrow
Hyderabad, Nov 10 (Maxim News): All arrangements have been finalized for the Jubilee Hills by-election, scheduled to be held tomorrow (Tuesday) from 7 AM to 6 PM. A total of 4,01,365 voters are eligible to exercise their franchise, with 58 candidates contesting the election.
To ensure smooth polling, 407 polling stations have been established across the constituency, with four EVMs allotted to each station. The dispatch of EVMs and election materials from the Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Stadium to respective polling centers is currently underway. Election officials have begun distributing polling materials and equipment to the staff, and the movement of EVMs is expected to be completed by this evening.
Security Arrangements Tightened
Around 5,000 personnel have been deployed for the by-election, including 3,000 polling staff and 2,000 police officers. Of the 407 polling stations, 226 have been identified as sensitive or problematic, where Section 144 has been imposed to maintain law and order.
For the first time, drone surveillance will be used to monitor polling stations. Central forces will be stationed at sensitive locations to ensure peaceful voting. Additionally, 45 flying squad teams have been constituted to respond to any election-related violations.
Police have taken preventive action by binding over 230 rowdy sheeters and have registered 27 cases for violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). Meanwhile, 103 postal ballots have already been cast.
Political Stakes High
The by-election was necessitated following the death of Jubilee Hills BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath. His wife, Maganti Sunitha, is contesting on a BRS ticket, while Congress has fielded Naveen Yadav, and BJP is represented by Lankala Deepak Reddy.
Leaders of all three major parties — BRS, Congress, and BJP — have campaigned intensively, making the by-election a high-stakes political battle. As the constituency heads to the polls, all eyes are now on who will win the people’s mandate in Jubilee Hills. (Maxim News)
