Al Falah Group Chairman Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui Arrested

  • Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui held as ED raids Al Falah University and linked locations
  • Investigation targets money laundering, fraudulent claims, and terror financing

Al Falah | Hyderabad / New Delhi, Nov 19: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, chairman of the Al Falah Group, in connection with the Red Fort car blast case that killed 15 people on November 10 near the iconic monument in Delhi.

Siddiqui was taken into custody under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and is being prepared for remand before a competent court.

The arrest follows simultaneous searches conducted across 25 locations linked to the Al Falah University and its trustees in Delhi-NCR early Tuesday morning.

The cases under investigation include FIRs registered by the Delhi Police and the National Investigation Agency (NIA), focusing on financial irregularities and possible terror financing connected to the blast. The ED seized Rs 48 lakh cash during the raids.

Officials also raided the university’s office in Okhla and its large campus in Faridabad, Haryana, where the institution operates as a medical college and hospital.

Investigations reveal that the Al Falah Charitable Trust, led by Siddiqui from its inception in 1995, controls the educational institutions under the group.

The trust allegedly diverted crores of rupees to family-owned entities, including contracts for construction and catering services awarded to Siddiqui’s wife and children.

The ED identified nine shell companies registered at a single address linked to the group, raising concerns about money laundering and fraudulent financial practices.

Legal authorities also scrutinized Al Falah University’s claims of accreditation, which were found to be false.

The university was accused of misleading students and stakeholders by claiming National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation and University Grants Commission (UGC) recognition under Section 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956.

These fraudulent claims contributed to wrongful gains, according to police complaints.

Meanwhile, the NIA has arrested two individuals described as close aides of “suicide bomber” Dr Umar Nabi, who drove the explosive-laden car near Red Fort.

The role of several doctors linked to the university and Kashmir remains under investigation by anti-terror agencies. The expanding probe illustrates the complex financial and terror financing networks behind the deadly attack.
